***While there is no MBTA service within the Town of Boxborough, the MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line stops in neighboring Littleton, to the north, and Acton, to the east. The MBTA recently completed a new station and parking lot in Littleton, and expects to open a new station in South Acton in late 2015. The same project also included double-tracking the Fitchburg line, which has resulted in increased service to Littleton. Littleton and South Action stations now see the same number of trains each day. This may impact local traffic patterns, and could encourage more development near the Littleton commuter rail station.
